A message from your favourite two Josh’s…

We have some big news… after 5 beautiful (and slightly crazy!) years running Mattr Media, we are starting to wind back the company.

Don’t worry… there’s no bad blood, we didn’t go bankrupt, sell out or crumble under the struggle of Coronavirus… in truth there’s no juicy drama in the decision at all (sorry to disappoint!). In short, Coronavirus was a timely catalyst for us to take a step back, reflect on ourselves, our career aspirations and formalise things we’d already been discussing in the background.

That said, this obviously hasn’t been an easy decision. What started out as two dreamers in a coffee shop has grown to become a company we are immensely proud of, and even though its not ‘the end’ its certainly an end of an era.

As we wind things back we are saying goodbye to our incredible in-house team and with them all in their future careers:

  • Sunnii, our superstar production “Swiss Army knife” has found a new home with the lovely folk at Fox and Hare.

  • Dave, our resident camera and edit guru is how a freelancing ‘gun for hire’, with his new personal venture: 'Charity Creative.'

They’re both amazing people and we were honoured to have them as part of the team so please check out their linkedIn profiles and keep in touch for the future!

So whats next? Well, in the short term its business as usual, just at a reduced capacity meaning we can both be more selective with new projects and clients we take on. Our model was always designed to flex and scale so we’ll still be calling on the same familiar faces to make the magic happen, the only practical difference may be you only get one Josh instead of two!

Long term? Its too early to say yet but we both are both keeping our eyes open for the next exciting challenge, whatever or wherever that may be… #WatchThisSpace

Apart from that, just to say it’s been an epic ride. Over the years we’ve had the immense pleasure to work alongside some incredibly talented people, helping create some awesome campaigns for some truly inspiring companies. If you’ve been part of this epic journey so far we want to say thank you!

Big Love, Josh x2

Some FAQs for our superfans..

+ Why are you winding back?

Coronavirus was certainly a catalyst but truthfully burnout and realising the company we were growing may never become what we individually and collectively wanted from our lives were big factors. Josh and Josh are very open so if you want to talk further about it all just get in touch - lets get DEEP!

+ Do the two Joshes still love each other?

More than ever!

+ Are you still taking on projects?

Yes we are :) As mentioned the only major difference will be dependent on the project and timings, you may only have Josh H or Josh F in charge. Drop us a line if you want to chat!

+ Who should I contact now?

Either Josh Fineman on josh@mattr.media or Josh Hine on mrhine@mattr.media (or both!) we will be contactable for any questions.

+ What about your events?

We don’t want to rule anything out but it’s unlikely our “build a brand movement” panel events or “brand bitch and brekkie” sessions will continue. If you’d like to discuss ways we could do so together reach out to josh@mattr.media.

+ I worked with you as a freelancer, what now?

Chances are if we got on, you'll be logged in our 'little black book of awesome talent', keep in touch and I'm sure we will work togher again before too long!

+ What will happen to the footage from the project we did together?

Mr Hine has got all our hard drives for safekeeping, if you need any re-edits you know who to call!

+ What is Josh Hine doing next?

Josh Hine’s heart will remain firmly in the world of film and advertising. Short term, he's still steering the Mattr ship as well as being a creative/directing gun for hire. Ultimately though, he's on the lookout for a likeminded agency or brand to join forces with so he can double down on his creative passions (without the agency owner stresses!). Whatever lucky company snaps him up, if you enjoyed working with Mattr, its likely you'll enjoy working with them too so our paths will hopefully cross again!

+ What is Josh Fineman doing next?

Well who really knows!? What's for sure is he'll continue doing what he does best; connecting likeminded people, and helping guide them from a storytelling perspective. He is currently spending some extra time with his family and exploring ventures in the world of professional and personal growth as well as heading up the London chapter of the global movement, Fuckup Nights… check it out here: www.fuckupnights.com/london

+ What is Sunnii doing next?

Sunnii is now a Senior Account Executive (oooooo)for the lovely folk over at Fox and Hare. You can contact her personally here: sunnii-elle@hotmail.co.uk

+ What is Dave doing next?

For now dave is keeping his options open, maybe long term he'll get snapped up by another agency like ours! In the meanwhile though he's started his own venture, providing his creative video skills to the charity sector, you can find out more and get in touch here: www.charitycreative.co.uk
